Why Are We Here?
02:48
|
|||
We were never meant to be here
We are an ugly growth on the face of a beautiful planet
And what keeps us growing?
What compels us to perpetuate ourselves
And keep multiplying clones without purpose?
For most of us, it's fear
Fear of the unknown
Fear of the void of death
Fear of the infinite silence that will drown out
Every voice which validates our existence
Fear is the voice that tells us
To eat more,
Drink more,
Buy more,
Post more pictures of ourselves doing nothing
Compete for titles that mean nothing
Lying to each other
Pretending that one of us is worth more than the rest
Pretending we're all more than parasites
Filling every crevice of a body that never wanted us
But I like to think
That for some of us
It's the knowledge that we are just visitors
That we should bind with each other
To help leave this place better than we found it
For some of us,
What keeps us growing
Is the hope
That one day we might become
The antidote
Instead of the disease

Nobody better leave the house
Nobody better go outside
Because the radical's on the loose
Killing anyone who hurts their pride
Nobody wanna leave the house
Nobody wanna go outside
And if you ever try to speak your mind
Radicals gonna eat you alive
There you stand at the Capitol doors
Nobody but God on your side
Pocket Bible in your left hand
Pocket pistol in your right
You told yourself that you survived the war
So you're gonna be just fine
But when the windows start to shake
A thousand needles hit your spine
You had a feeling this would be your day
But you never thought you'd have to lay down your life, though
Not standing for the way that's true
Just standing in the way of a few thousand psychos
They put the batter ram to the glass
Until the whole damn door breaks loose
One gets a bullet in the neck
And the rest put you in the news, now you realize
You never should have left the house
You never should have went outside
Last thing that you get to see is the smile in your mother's eyes
You never should have left the house
You never should have went outside
How are they gonna tell the world
The real reason you had to die

I have nothing left to say...
All I can do is sit back and shake my head, as I watch the inevitable unfold...
Hate
The very thought of love
No words to describe it
"The vibe's just really off"
Scared
Of things you can't explain
Is it a breakdown,
Or how we've always been?
Your faces
As hard as your hearts
They brought you together
To watch you fall apart
In other places
This shit is nothing new
How do they feel
Now that it's finally happening to you?

Every day is a good day to renew your trauma
Get caught up in some new drama
Become an expert in everyone's problems
Knowing damn well you will never solve a single one
You start every morning the same way
Pick up your phone and scroll the day away
Before you know, it's half past noon
And you're praying Apocalypse will come soon
It's no wonder you have so much trouble trying to leave the house
You've spent the last couple of months in the basement
Trying to remember where the "good old days" went
But today will be different
Today you will seize it - today you will pick up the pieces
You're gonna pick up some groceries
And maybe call your mother, to tell her you love her
(maybe for the last time...?)
Okay, okay, okay, try to remember your exercise...
Take a deep breath
Try to forget everyone's got eyes
What you don't realize is
You're invisible, just as intended
And nobody knows what you're thinking
Nobody knows what you're feeling
Anyone could be concealing
While you're concealing your feelings, someone's concealing a weapon
So always have eyes on the exit, otherwise you could be next
Triggered by colors
That one certain smell
Is all that it takes to send you back to that empty hell
I wanna be a good person
But I'm hurting
Every day keeps getting worse
And nothing's for certain
I'm fighting the urge to cut the curtains
